Mahomet Weekly is a satire publication. All stories and columns are fictional humor, not factual news.
Inspired by life in and around Mahomet, Illinois, we give everyday small-town absurdities the grand newspaper treatment they never requested. Local News, Schools, Government, Business & Development, Community, and Opinion are all satire categories.
Fictional writer persona • Out-of-town correspondent • Enthusiast of “real news”
Charles Weekly arrived from out of town convinced that every town needs a newspaper and every newspaper needs more Charles. He carries two notebooks: one for observations and one for conclusions reached before the observations.
His interests include overanalyzing public benches, asking follow-up questions after everyone has left, and describing a coffee refill as “a developing situation.” He believes in “real news,” provided the quotation marks remain firmly attached.
Charles’s biography is invented for comedy. It is not a claim of real journalistic credentials, employment, or reporting experience.
We label satire clearly on the homepage, story cards, and articles. Fictional dialogue, events, and personas are entertainment, not evidence of real conduct. This site is not an official village, school, or government publication.
